I was listening to a sermon regarding Christmas and its really sad and true to say santa clause has been the real focus of many Christians and non-Christians. The giving of presents seem to have a material spin whereby if gifts aren’t given, love is not seen or felt. There is hardly a mention of Jesus, His birth and church is the last place many people decide to go on the run-up to Christmas day. Feel free to listen to the sermon here:

Eid is an Arabic word meaning “festivity,” while Fiṭr means “original nature,” implying the restoration of one’s best human composition. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the thirty days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The first day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month Shawwal.

Muslims around the world celebrate two Eids a year: Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha.

Eid Al-Fitr:

The first Eid of the year is known as Eid Al-Fitr. It marks the end of the month of Ramadan, which is the month in which Muslims fast every day from sunrise to sunset.

Eid Al-Adha:

The second and final Eid celebration of the year is called Eid Al-Adha. It commemorates the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage. Although only pilgrims in Mecca participate in the Hajj fully, Muslims around the world join them in celebrating Eid Al-Adha.
